After press questions, the artists from each of their respective countries drew a number from the hat that would be their running order in the final. The order for the ‘Big 4’, Aitze, Dandenia, UOCT Republic and W’ree, were already drawn 2 weeks earlier on July 31st.
The final order is as follows:

The song, “Wherever You Are”, based on the letters sent to the forces serving in the war and composed by Paul Mealor, sold over 500,000 copies throughout the week, outselling the entire top 12 combined.
Other contenders for the Christmas Number 1 included X Factor winners Little Mix with their single “Cannonball”, which had reached number-one the previous week, Lou Monte with a Christmas classic “Dominick The Donkey”, singer-songwriter Alex Day with “Forever Yours”, and Nirvana with “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, all of which charted at #2, #3, #4 and #11 respectively.
The Christmas Number 1 is the most coveted chart position of the year, with the sales of singles in the Christmas charts typically being higher than all other weeks of the year.
Previous years have seen the Christmas Number 1s dominated by X Factor and other talent competition winners, with the exception of 2009 following the famous and successful campaign to get Rage Against The Machine to number 1.
The first part of the final took part on Saturday 10th December, which saw 17-year-old Amelia Lily receiving the fewest votes and finishing in 3rd place.
The next part of the final took place on Sunday 11th December, where Little Mix and 23-year-old Marcus Collins fought head to head for the £1m recording contract.
They both sung a cover of Damien Rice’s “Cannonball” for their winning single, with Little Mix’s version becoming the one that would ultimately win them the competition.
Little Mix began their X Factor journey individually as solo artists. They were put together as a group at boot camp when they originally named themselves “Rhythmix”. However, during the live shows, they were forced to change their name after Brighton charity Rhythmix threatened to take legal action.
“Cannonball” will be available to download at midnight on the 12th December.
